Leading People into a Growing Relationship with Jesus Christ

Current Small GroupsIf you are looking for a small group to join, you can do one of the following: contact Discipleship Pastor Brent Schulte, fill out the Small Group Information Request form or contact one of the leaders listed below. We suggest you spend some time talking to them and asking questions. They can fill you in on the details of their group such as where they meet and what they are currently studying. If you are comfortable with the leader, then arrange a visit to their group. You might visit a couple of times before you feel comfortable enough to join a group. The first group you visit may not be the right fit, but keep trying - becoming part of a small group is well worth the effort!
![]() Small groups are where God’s body of believers do life together. Small just refers to the number of people in a group, usually 8-12 people. Life groups may be a better term. The make-up of a group can take any form. They can be married couples, singles, men, women, newly married, empty-nesters or multi-generational. We do find that people in the same station-in-life bond and connect better due to their common interests. The groups gather together for support and encouragement, prayer, Bible study and time of just hanging out (what we call fellowship in the church). The group can be a life raft when you are drowning in the ocean of despair and it can be there to celebrate the joys of new family members or a promotion at work. So we encourage everyone to join a life group and “do life together.”
In the fall of 2009, we started writing sermon-based studies for our small groups. Each week, a new study guide is prepared based on the sermon for that weekend. The life groups use this study guide to engage God’s Word together. Each weekend, many of us follow along with the sermon notes in the bulletin and usually highlight a passage to go back and review or write down a question that we may have. Imagine now taking that a step further and meeting with others from Antioch, discussing the sermon message and asking that question.
The study guides are available at the Welcome Center or can be downloaded from this site. The guide includes ice-breaker type questions to open each group time, allowing everyone a chance to get to know each other. The groups will look deeper into the Scripture surrounding the text taught during the sermon. Here, we hope to draw group members into the Bible deeper to discover truth from passages that were not the primary text for the weekend message. They may be explanatory or in some way shed further light on the main topic or principles of the sermon. Finally, there will be questions of life-application. We’ll ask ourselves to examine our lives in light of the primary truths taught or explored in the sermon. If you are interested in joining a life group at Antioch, you can contact Brent Schulte by email, phone (377-3410) or stop by the Welcome Center after a weekend service. Below is a list of our current groups. You are welcome to contact the group leader directly to get more information.
